Resveratrol- Antioxidant and Improved Immune Function

May 6, 2019 Puzzle Piece
In recent years, extensive research on resveratrol has been accomplished demonstrating its capacity to prevent a wide variety of conditions, including cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and to help control fungal, bacterial and viral infections.1

This molecule is something every patient could benefit from to stay healthy, keep their immune system in peak condition, and reduce their risk of developing dis-ease.

The Dual Function of Resveratrol
Resveratrol, a compound found in many plants, has been shown to prevent coronary heart diseases and to exert a variety of anti-inflammatory and anti-cancerogenic effects. Studies show resveratrol helps to strengthen your immune system to fight off illness.  It has also demonstrated the ability to reverse autoimmune disease-related behavior in many situations.

If a person is suffering from arthritis, lupus, celiac disease or even MS, resveratrol has been shown to help alleviate these conditions by decreasing the immune response, specifically inflammation by using something called sirtuins. Sirtuins are a family of proteins that regulate other molecules by modifying them and turning them off or on.2 In other words: resveratrol has been shown to inhibit T cell overactivity.

Another study concluded that resveratrol acts as a direct antioxidant by neutralizing reactive oxygen species and improves some antioxidant enzyme activity. In addition, resveratrol also inhibited autoantibody production by plasma cells, which are key factors in the progression of some autoimmune diseases.3

This is a huge finding since autoimmune diseases are one of the leading causes of death, disability and discomfort worldwide.

Another study out of Austria in 2013 (Biochimica et Biophysica Acta General Subjects) took 10 volunteers and measured the amount of certain key hormones, including TNF-alpha and IL-10 after taking 5 g of resveratrol. The results demonstrated that these individuals had increased levels of TNF-alpha in monocyte cells in their blood, after the cells were stimulated with bacteria. Their findings suggest that antibacterial properties of the cells were boosted by resveratrol.3
Another study by Robert Falchetti, et. al, indicate that resveratrol modulates several human immune cell functions and suggest that this activity may be related to its effects on cytokine production by both CD4+ and CD8+ T cells.4

Dr. Harris’s Essential Resveratrol
While research touts the wonders of this molecule, there is the challenge of making it bioavailable. Optimal Health Systems has helped Dr. Harris formulate the best resveratrol supplement available or you could possibly be asked for.

resveratrol

With the help of Doug Grant’s patented nutrients in the Opti-Blend delivery system, Essential Resveratrol is a highly bioavailable whole food form of resveratrol that has been shown to provide an immune boost and act as a free radical scavenger.

The resveratrol in this formula is sourced from the root of Japanese knotweed and an alcohol-free red wine extract. Both sources have been researched in over 2,000 studies. Dr. Harris’s methylation and SNP testing/treatment has shown Essential Resveratrol to be very effective in improving epigenetic expression, even in identified genetic SNPs.

Dosing: Take two capsules daily.
