Two Day Functional Diagnostic Seminar
What is Functional Diagnostics?
The term most commonly used is Functional Medicine. Being a
chiropractor, we usually use the term Functional Diagnosis or Functional
Wellness Evaluation.
The use of function is the key. We are measuring through blood, urine,
saliva, and or hair analysis and in out office, muscle response testing
to determine the function, health and ability of specific organs and
systems to carry out their jobs as perfectly as possible. We do not
want to wait until there is dis-ease or a diagnosed disease to implement
treatment.
Blood is the gold standard measured my medicine, taking all health
professions under that heading, to evaluate the body. Medical doctors
have used pathological levels, meaning with a SGOT and a SGPT at 5000,
you have a disease process and the liver is involved.
Functional Wellness Evaluations measure with strict guidelines to
prevent the body from developing a dis-ease by promoting health and
wellness. Functional evaluation recognizes a SGOT and a SGPT of 50 tells
us we need to evaluate the liver further, use specific nutrition to
support liver function, possibly do a hair analysis to test for heavy
metals and we teach in our seminars how to do visceral manipulation to
the liver etc to allow better function. Of course as a Chiropractor, I
would want to evaluate and correct any subluxations that effect the
liver and its function.
At our seminars, we will cover many functional diagnostic and treatment
aspects, including blood, hair, urine, saliva and muscle response
testing. We will cover specific Chiropractic adjustive techniques to
help improve function, including, manual and instrument structural
techniques, the use of cold laser, detoxification techniques, visceral
manipulation etc.
The reason we are stressing functional evaluation before and after
treatment is you can prove why you are doing what you are doing, measure
the results and the effectiveness of treatment.
It is a very exciting way to practice and gives the patient and the
doctor the information to know what, why and how, as well as being able
to measure the results and prove change and improvement is happening. It
allows you to know when the patient has improved to MMI or maximum,
medical improvement and that release from active care is possible.
Nutritional Effects on Blood Chemistry
An Introduction to Functional Lab Testing by Dr. John Brimhall

SATURDAY
8:00 - 9:00

The most accurate and accepted means of determining the health status of patients is through
bloodwork and urinalysis. These snapshots of physiology tell the practitioner where the patient’s
health is presently, giving the basis to determine what specific actions are needed to accomplish
maximum improvement. We now have computerized systems that aid the doctor in understanding
these tests, while in addition recommending the proper nutritional support. A patient sees in full
color where the problems are and what the solutions can be. This doubles and triples the patient’s
understanding and compliance. To know what the body is telling you through functional testing
increases your credibility. Having the ability to communicate in the gold standard of lab testing
leads to your success and profitability as a clinician. That is what this seminar is all about.

NOTE: Doctors are encouraged to bring in their own recent blood work for review. We will use as many as we can,
as time allows , to illustrate these principles.
