January 2, 2017 Puzzle Piece
Doctors and CA's,
Brimhall Seminars is very proud to share with you that Brandy Brimhall was recently featured on the December cover of The Chiropractic Assistant magazine,
along with her article 'A CA's Path to Professional Development'. As
she has for the past several years, Brandy will be teaching a workshop
at our annual Homecoming seminar on January 25-29, 2017. There, she
will be sharing important need-to-know coding, billing, and risk
management related information to you and your team. If you haven't
already registered for this event, now is the time to do so and bring
your staff!
Brandy's
featured article highlights the importance of the CA role and the many
different vehicles available for CA's to professional progress, thus,
becoming more valuable to your practice and adding to their professional
resume. This past September marked Brandy's 17 years in chiropractic
and she continues to regularly utilize those success tools and
professional development strategies that are shared in the article. See
below for just a small clip of that article and take a look at your
issue of The Chiropractic Assistant for the rest!
Clip from December, 2016 Issue of The Chiropractic Assistant:
"No
different than an insurance agent, real estate agent, and multitudes of
other professions, it is critical that CAs be diligent and proactive in
their efforts to improve their craft and stay up-to-date with industry
standards and guidelines.
As a CA, you are valuable. To continue to maintain, and even increaseur value, regular professional development is an essential element that must not be overlooked.
CAs
contribute to the success of a practice in many ways, often times even
beyond those duties that are defined in the individual job description.
They are also key contributors to establishing the personality of the
practice and the development of patient relationships – the welcoming
atmosphere, willingness and desire to serve, general professionalism,
and more. All of these things, including the day-to-day taskshould continue to be evaluated, practiced, and developed."
Here is another exerpt from the article:
What you’ll gain by continued professional development as a Chiropractic Assistant:
There
are many benefits to you when continuing professional development.
First, actively seeking and participating in educational opportunities
demonstrates that you are a proactive individual. Employers of all
types look for this characteristic in their workforce members. Being
proactive builds trust and reliability. Opportunities for advancement
are more often made available for these proactive employees.
You
become a stronger leader. In chiropractic, as with any profession,
employers look to strong leaders to spearhead projects, manage
departments, and do future planning with. Yet again, being a strong
leader will allow other areas of your role to advance.
You
build your self-confidence and your value. The more you learn, the
more comfortable you become in your role and the more confident you feel
in contributing to the business. This valuable characteristic is
immensely helpful to you as a CAs well as every other field.
What your practice and employer will gain by your continued professional development as a Chiropractic Assistant:
Businesses
that grow and thrive make an active effort in continued education.
They work hard to ensure that their business practices are up to date
with current guidelines, and they pride themselves when implementing new
ideas and functioning efficiently. These businesses also feel great
comfort in knowing that their risk of investigations, audits, and
penalties is evaluated and maintained at a minimum level. This allows
freedom to these businesses to provide updated equipment, improved work
space, raises, bonuses, and other benefits that employees love to have
available.
Businesses
that encourage and invest, as appropriate, into the professional
development of their workforce tend to have lower turnover.
Join
us on January 27-29, 2017 at the Brimhall Homecoming for a seminar that
is loaded with information and tools to take back to your practice and
patients!

November 2, 2015 Puzzle Piece - The AngioScan helps prevent Cardiovascular Disease and Peripheral Neuropathy. Not to see is not to know!
The AngioScan helps prevent Cardiovascular Disease and Peripheral Neuropathy. Not to see is not to know!
We can test you at Homecoming 2016…
November 02, 2015 Puzzle Piece
Are
you doing everything you can to prevent the sleeping giant of
cardiovascular disease that may be affecting you and your patients? The old adage of what you don’t know can’t hurt you does not apply here. Once I started using the AngioScan
I was able to see that most of my patients were at risk. The beauty of
this technology was that the findings were easy for the patient to see
the results and the solution was easy to implement. This is an area the
patients are aware of and most of them have a certain amount of fear
about strokes and heart disease. They really appreciate your
comprehensiveness in being able to screen them. What is being measured
with the AngioScan is arterial stiffness, vascular age, stress index, pulse rate, pulse wave type, and oxygen saturation.
Contour pulse wave analysis is one of the major ways that was used
in the 1800’s to evaluate cardiovascular health until the
implementation of the stethoscope combined with the blood pressure cuff.
What was sacrificed was ease for accuracy. The pulse wave analysis
technology has made a resurgence and is much easier to use today. What
we are looking at is something called pulsed wave velocity. When your
heart contracts during systole it produces a pulse wave that travels to
the periphery and is called the forward wave. When the pulse wave
returns it is called the reflective wave. If the reflective wave returns
too fast when the heart is in early systole, the heart is working
against resistance during this phase and spending more time contracting
and less time resting. When the heart is contracting it is unable to get
its own blood supply. This sets the patient up for serious
cardiovascular issues. The cause of the fast returning wave is vascular
stiffness. This would show up on the AngioScan as an A
pulse wave type. They may have normal vascular age which is the health
of the medium and small vessels but the arterial stiffness reading could
be worse than their age representing the big vessels and means that the
Aorta is becoming stiffer.
One of the major studies today is the Café study and it
is telling us that you don’t want to treat the brachial pressure but the
central aortic pressure also known as the CASP. When patients were
given the common blood pressure medication Beta Blockers they would
lower brachial blood pressure but not central aortic blood pressure
where it really counts.
Once you find the problems, the solutions are easy. Put the patient on Optimal Opti-Nitric, Optimal Fruit & Veggie Plus, Longevi-D and get them on the Bemer for extra support. You can also improve the health of their arteries with very specific exercise. The specific exercise is called Kaatsu
and we will be elaborating on this in future puzzle pieces and it will
be available at Homecoming 2016 for you to experience. This exercise
will increase endothelial Nitric Oxide, as does Opti-Nitric. This
combination is truly ANTI-AGING.
What we have shared with you is a cutting edge evaluation and some simple solutions that can reverse the findings on the AngioScan.
To read more about pulse wave velocity you can read the American Heart
Association recommendations and standardizing vascular research on
arterial stiffness. You can also watch the video on www.hrvhq.com. Once on the website, click on the AngioScan
picture on the Home page and watch the video. Below we can show you
some examples of the screens. My own personal goal is to have a higher
percentage of the B and C type wave and less percentage of A. Below is a
good description of the different wave types.
This is how the Pulse Curve Type screen shows up on the
AngioScan. This is hard to find in older adults. By following the
protocols mentioned above, we can improve the pulse curve type to a
healthier state.
This person is 54 years old but their small and medium sized vessels are more like a 67 year old.
To make sure you understand we will have the AngioScan available at Homecoming 2016 to
test anyone who would like to know the state of their vascular health.
For those who want to do a comparison after taking the Optimal Opti-Nitric, Optimal Fruit & Veggie Plus, Longevi-D and get on the Bemer
as well, we can do a post study. We will be going through this
information in a more comprehensive way at the webinar on November 3,
2015 at 6pm Pacific and at Homecoming.
See you at the upcoming webinars and at Homecoming 2016!

Genetic SNP’s, Toxic Burdens, Strange New Symptoms, Opti-Enviro Detox and Opti-methyl B
By Wendy Meyer, DC
October 9, 2017 Puzzle Piece
Wendy Meyer, DC
Our
office is located in the middle of Nebraska. Seven years ago, we had a
mild winter and the agronomist told the farmers to use twice the amount
of chemicals. One of our patients said that his neighbor used five
times the normal amount. Strange symptoms, new conditions and dis-eases
have been increasing since that time.
As summer turns into fall, people in our area start have liver,
kidney, and lung symptoms. This year has been the most difficult.
Instead of just symptoms of toxicity, people started to develop other
strange symptomatic expressions. Patients started to lose their hair in
patches. One gentleman lost one entire side of his hair, and others
have curly-Q shape hair loss, with most just having generalized hair
loss. Thanks to Dr. Marc Harris for his insights. He stated due to the
increased toxic burden and chemical poisoning it allowed a fungal
infection, killing the hair follicle. Opti-Enviro and Metal Detox helps to reduce the chemicals from the body, which allows treating the fungus more effective.
The
other thing that I had never seen before in my office is cellulitis
until recent years. The first case was shingles, which resolved and
then came back on other parts of the body as cellulitis. We now have
been treating it almost daily in our patients. It is in all ages, the
youngest patient was a 2 year old that started as a mosquito bite.
Another patient had a swollen, hot knee that she couldn’t remember
doing anything to, but did go “tubing” down the river. Any cut, bite,
or scrape was suspect, and treated immediately.
All of my patients receive the Brimhall Six Step’s protocol to
great success. We have found recently all required higher doses of the Opti-Methyl-B to boost the immune system and allow for a quick recovery.
There are many problems with being Vitamin B deficient. Vitamins
B6, B12, and folic acid are needed to make a red blood cell. If you
have a genetic SNP for these, you don’t make red blood cells properly.
There are about 60 or more hemoglobin dependent enzymes in the body.
Some of these include the enzymes that convert your thyroid hormone to
be active, boosting the immune system, detoxification pathways, and
vaso-dilation of the arteries to get oxygen to the micro-system.
Because of the increase in chemicals and pesticides, everyone’s
vitamin B’s have been depleted. This causes malfunction of the immune
system with decreased function on one hand and Auto Immune upregulated
conditions on the other. Extreme fatigue is becoming an increasing
problem in our area. Young adults have been requiring 3 naps a day
before they begin treatment.
If I treat with regular vitamin B complex, the conditions do not
clear and may get worse. Genetic testing can be expensive and hard. I
feel by using
Opti-Methyl-B,
I am solving the B complex deficiencies and genetic SNP problems at the
same time. The results are demonstrating its effectiveness.
If you use non-methylated B’s, you will cause more malfunction, if
there are genetic problems, which are very common. Some of the symptoms
of a folic acid genetic SNP include trigger finger and calluses.
Regular B6 will cause morning sickness, kidney stones, digestive issues,
and aneurysms. This is a very small list of a huge problem.
One thing I have noticed, is if my patients are not taking enough
of the Opti-methyl B, they can get a “healing crisis” as toxins are only
partially processed. I find all of the OHS Products to be effective
due to their natural ingredients and pre-digestion. It seems the Opti-Products,
such as the B’s, Detox formulas, Brain, Adrenal, Opti Nitric, Mito etc.
set a new standard never before achieved in my practice.

Advanced Kinesiotaping Case Study:
Patient: Joan
Joan was as a new patient last week.
She had been through PT for 6 months with limited improvement.
She came into our office during a severe flare up at her wits end.
Our original exam showed ROM during forward flexion was
around 40 degrees of the shoulder; lateral Abduction was around 45
degrees; 0 extension. Pain scale ratings were 8/10.
During the first visit, the treatment consisted of
warming her with stim and heat. We used our mobilization techniques to
free up her scapula, shoulder joint, and adjusted her ribs under her
scapula and her cervical spine. Joan was kinesiotaped using our trace
taping method for the shoulder.
Results: Joan was seen today for a follow-up visit with
100% normal ROM in flexion, abduction, and extension after 1 treatment
with a 1 out of 10 pain.
We are so excited to teach you these tricks of the
trade we have learned over our 18 years of taping people! Adjusting,
taping and OHS nutrition are our go to treatment for RESULTS.

Dennis Pick, DC, DBCS, FBCII
Dr. Dennis Pick is a chiropractor in private practice in
California since 1973. Dr. Pick has been inspired to find the true cause
of man’s health problems at its source. This passion led him to
research multiple disciplines in the healing arts to find the common
denominator that has its thread intertwined within the basic fabric of
man’s ailments. Dr. Pick came to the conclusion that disease is not an
affliction of the body, but a disturbance in the vital force. As long as
the vital force is in control, the body can heal and repair itself.
After an in-depth study of many healthcare systems, his conclusion was
that balancing the craniosacral system removed central disturbances that
interfered with this vital force. He feels Bio Craniopathy (formally
known as Bio Cranial) is the means to remove this central disturbance
and restore health from its source. He will explain the evaluation and
treatment at Homecoming 2017.

December 7, 2015 Puzzle Piece
Salivary Hormone Testing for PCOS, Andro/Menopause, Anxiety, Insomnia, and Neurodegenerative Conditions
Scientific Updates and the Application of Hormone Testing; When, What, and How
for evaluation of Men and Women in Hormonal Transition by Jay Mead, MD
Abstract:
Excellent patient results in Hormone optimization and
Neuroendocrine Balance can be built from the blueprint of accurate,
reliable and valid testing. Optimizing health and treating our patients
successfully is every Practitioner’s primary goal. Complex cases need
good labs to tease out the elements of malfunction and dysfunction in
each person’s whole picture. These assessment tools position achieve
healing and wellness.
In order to accomplish this include we utilize physical
examination, thorough clinical history and valid, applicable laboratory
testing. Many of our patients are of the complex variety and the
functional road maps which good testing provides serve an invaluable
role. But which labs to order, how do we interpret them and when do they
need to be ordered?
Measuring active saliva hormone levels is different than measuring
general total serum levels. Each serves a purpose but understanding how
they differ is critical. This presentation will elucidate the science
behind the existing Hormone and Neuroendocrine testing methodologies, as
well as outlining the monitoring practices and treatment protocols to
successfully treat patients.
Rule of thumb; all testing utilized should bring relief to the
complexity of the case and provide clarity and direction for best
treatment practices. If your menopausal patients suffer from symptoms
of menopause, Neurodegenerative disease, PCOS, Depression, Anxiety,
Insomnia or numerous other debilitating conditions during this
transition; a functional approach which begins with accurate Hormone and
Neuroendocrine assessment may be key.
Learning Objectives for our Webinar, December 15, 2015 at 6pm PST
where Dr Brimhall will host Dr Mead to answer questions on the procedure
of Salivary testing and the answer to many questions.
- Learn the scientific foundation for hormone and neuroendocrine assessment and testing.
- Obtain
the historical perspective on HRT, evolution of testing and advances in
the current state of the art laboratory practices
- Consider when to use saliva, serum or urinary analysis for these purposes.
- Understand test results with treatment overview for successful outcomes.
- Gain an understanding of test results so that interpretation leads to more precise and successful treatment
