Diversified Biological Signaling Solutions, Inc. (DBS /DiversifedBio) is an authorized distributor of Utah Cord Bank (UCB) products, StemVive and Stemii.   Please see communication from Customer Service Department and CEO letter.  This communication is in response to the news coverage on “Stem Cells” and Liveyon product recall.

Dear Valued Customers,

In light of the most recent Liveyon (competitor) news coverage, UCB would like to clarify an assure you of the following. Please see our attached CEO's letter.

Many of our competitors who sell birth derived allograft products are venture capitalist groups, some foreign owned, who hire third party labs that purchase specimens from organ procurement organizations.  These labs rely on birth materials from other states, and sometimes even from outside American borders. Donor Eligibility requirements outside of this country often times do not meet U.S. equivalent standards.  When these labs ship the materials between multiple states, they have substantially longer transit times to the lab. This has been shown to reduce cellular viability and increase potential for bacterial contamination.

Please rest assured Utah Cord Bank (UCB) has been in the cord blood banking and procurement industry for 15 years with a spotless record. UCB is owned and operated by a husband and wife team that includes the founding PhD of the company. They and their close staff personally recover specimens from local Utah hospitals. Donors are pre-screened for all relevant pathogen criteria and we even screen for high-risk lifestyles that can negatively influence cellular quality.

Average transit time from hospital to lab is 20 minutes, and average time from C-section birth to final product is 4 hours. The chain of custody involves less than 5 people. Additionally, the founding PhD is involved in every step of the recovery, processing and shipping of products. He personally developed the proprietary technology that enables the halting of apoptosis and maximizes cellular viability post-thaw.  In addition to viral testing over and above FDA standards, all UCB products are quarantined for two weeks after processing until a complete aerobic bacterial assay is completed (something Liveyon did not do).  Only after stringent testing is completed are our products released for patient use.

Several of our competitors have received 483 citation notices from the FDA for deviations. When patient safety, cellular viability, and product quality are of the utmost importance, know that UCB leads the industry.

April 29 2013 - Reducing Asthma, Eczema and Allergies in Infants with Prebiotics

Brimhall.com

April 29, 2013 Puzzle Piece

Reducing Asthma, Eczema and Allergies in Infants with Prebiotics

I get questions each month on infant and your child care. The conditions and questions range from allergies to much more devastating diagnoses. Our philosophy always goes to improving function.

Here is a great reference for natural treatment for infants: Osborn DA, Sinn JKh. Prebiotics in infants for prevention of allergy. Cochrane Database Syst. Rev. 2013 Mar 28;3:CD006474. doi: 10.1002/14651858.CD006474.pub3.

The study showed prebiotics demonstrated a reduction in eczema and allergy in infants. Prebiotics are nutrients that feed the growth of healthy intestinal bacteria. These include oligosaccharides and inulin, derived from the Jerusalem artichoke and other various plant sources.

The supplements that were used and evaluated in these studies were galacto-oligosaccharides and fructo-oligosaccharides (GOS and FOS). These prebiotics are frequently added to probiotics in many different formulas. The one I use for infants and adults most commonly is ProbioMax Plus DF and is in sachets, which allow it to be easily added to milk or formula. The supplement facts are below:

In the study stated above, the infants at high risk of allergies, who took prebiotics alone, had a significant reduction in asthma and eczema. Infants had a reduction in eczema across the spectrum of risk factors and family history in the study.
Supplementing infants with prebiotics and probiotics is beneficial for reduction of eczema and asthma incidence in my clinical experience and in the literature.

One sachet per day of the ProbioMax Plus DF seems adequate as a dosage for adults and may be used at one half doses in infants. In our twins, that are now 2 years old, we used one full sachet daily. It also contains IgG2000DF, which is serum-derived immunoglobulin concentrate providing IgG, IgA, IgM, IgE, IgD and transferrins IGF-1 and TGFB-1. It also has dietary fiber, Saccharomyces boulardii and Arabinogalactan in the formula.

In our seminars, we teach craniosacral and percussion treatment for infants along with instrument adjusting to blend with the nutrition supplementation. Children and infants frequently respond very well to this approach. Dr Fulford, the originator of the Percussion Protocols, was written about by Andrew Weil in many of his books for his treatment of children. He once treated many children under the watch of the University of Tucson and was able to help many children that had failed all treatment for ear infection using antibiotics and surgery. Dr Weil reports each child treated by Dr Fulford and the Percussor treatment never had another ear infection.

The whole person approach is best at all ages. We teach and preach the balance between structure, nutrition, electromagnetic, emotions, reducing allergies and detoxification as a way to allow the body to heal and function naturally, referred to as the Six Steps to Wellness.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our seminars this year.

John W. Brimhall, BA, BS, DC, FIAMA, DIBAK

June 27 2016 Virtual Consultation 3D ROF Better Acceptance and Better Compliance

Virtual Consultation 3D ROF
Better Acceptance and Better Compliance

June 27, 2016 Puzzle Piece

Today, doctors are experiencing reduced reimbursements from insurance companies and medicare so therefore integrating more cash based services into their practice makes sense. But whether a doctor is providing cash based services or relying mainly on traditional reimbursement, higher patient acceptance rates and better compliance is crucial for a successful practice. Traditional paper charts and plastic models are far less compelling than the similar materials patients themselves can often find on the internet.

I have reviewed the Virtual Consultation 3D ROF and really like it.  Please take a look and see what you think!  I have scheduled a Webinar with the owner for next week, Tuesday, July 5, 2016 for 6 PM, Pacific time.  He has also agreed to come to Homecoming 2017 if you are interested.  He has worked with a lot of the leaders in Chiropractic and has made specific presentations for different techniques and practitioners.

Many of the doctors record different presentations and use them in the waiting room as well.

Virtual Consultation is a 3D interactive patient education software product that's proven to generate more income for many clinics around the world. Doctors can deliver a compelling ROF in less time while enjoying both better acceptance and compliance. A menu based interface means doctors can usually select the appropriate animation in 1-2 click of the mouse or taps of the display. Matching up an actual  cervical Xray with the animation and showing nerve activity during degeneration or displaying both axial and lateral views of disc injuries takes just seconds.

Patients get it. Virtual Consultation includes a rich animation library of not only spinal conditions but extremity conditions as well.

Generate and print a patient report with conditions, care plan and exercises in less than 60 seconds. There's also a built-in 6 minute 'Introduction to Chiropractic Care' video in the product. Are you looking for a way to market your practice on Facebook? Use Virtual Consultation to generate compelling content on your Facebook fan page.

April 15 2013 - How to Collect Cash - Are The Good Old Days of Health Care GONE?

Brimhall.com

April 15, 2013 Puzzle Piece

How to Collect Cash - Are The Good Old Days of Health Care GONE?

During the 1980s and 1990s, the chiropractic along with all of the Medical industry thrived:

• The cost of a chiropractic education for example was only about $30-50,000 and easy to pay back
• There were more insurance that offered chiropractic and most medical service coverage
• Insurance companies were more profitable and didn't cost-cut as they do today
• Workers Comp covered chiropractic, as well as most medical practitioners very well
• The internet was in its infancy stages and doctors begin marketing successfully to a broader market

What does the Health World Look Like Now...?

It is a whole new world in 2013:

• People are very educated and/or misinformed on the internet. There is so much noise, patients wonder what the truth is
• The cost of a chiropractic education is now around $80-100,000. Loan payments are suffocating and stifling newly licensed chiropractors. This is much worse for M.D.'s, D.O.'s, N.D.'s and D.D.S.'s etc.
• Large health insurers merged, HMO's, PPO's etc. have formed with much higher premiums and a lot less coverage
• Reimbursement for services have shrunk
• We are living in the Attention Deficit Age. Electronic mass media is diluting the effects of marketing.
• The down economy, high unemployment rate and depressed home values are occupying peoples' minds, and the potential patients are more careful on where they spend their money.

This is not a Doom and Gloom Outlook

With these dark clouds, there is a rainbow. Health Care can still be a financially rewarding and a satisfying career! I hear many physicians say they are going to retire and quit practicing with all of these problems. On the other side of the coin:

• People are sicker than ever with increased levels of toxins in our air, food and water.
• People have poor nutrition habits with blood sugar dysregulation and obesity causing chronic inflammation and many named conditions.
• There are always going to be sick people. Illness is on the rise more than ever before due to unprecedented stress. People are working harder and longer these days in order to maintain their standard of living.
• There is no shortage of pain and suffering. People want help.
• Patients today are more informed about the dangers of the overuse of prescription drugs and are likely to seek alternative care

We have found one of the main answers to giving the patient what they need is for them not to have to worry about the money. Our idea is to:

• Never lose a patient because of money.
• Use a system of collecting Cash when possible.
• Be able to finance patients with little or no money down.
• Be able to receive full payment upfront for treatment even if patient delays
• Be able to focus on building your practice and getting your patients well

To accomplish this we utilize Health Care Payments Solutions. We will do Webinars on this topic starting next week, led by my good friend Dr. David Singer who is an expert in this area:

Tuesday, April 23rd 11:00am EST

and Wednesday, April 24th 12noon EST

You can e-mail HealthCare Payment Solutions: [email protected] or call Their offices at 866-657-2009.

We will cover how we present this to the patients in the Webinar…..

June 11 Puzzle Piece - Pre-Diabetes and Diabetes in Children is Now One in Four

Brimhall.com

June 11, 2012

Pre-Diabetes and Diabetes in Children is Now One in Four

Published online in a June 2012 Pediatrics article, researchers reported pre-diabetes and diabetes in the age’s form 12 to 19, increased from 9% to 23% in just eight years, from 2000 to 2008.

One in four of our children now have either pre-diabetes or diabetes. Another shocking finding is that over the last 15 years, the statistics have changed from only 3% of new cases of childhood diabetes being type 2, to now being 50% of all new cases.

This was a study of 3,383 children, ages 12 to 19 to gather this data. It was also found that 13% of these pre-diabetic or diabetic children were of normal weight. We can look thin enough and be metabolically obese. This is one of the reasons we are doing Functional Testing in our offices and teaching Functional Diagnosis in our seminars. We need to do comprehensive evaluations on ourselves, our families and our patients. If you do not look (test) you do not know.

Our junk food diets and lack of exercise deserve much of the blame for this downward spiral of health and wellness. Sugar, sodas and hydrogenated oils appeal to the taste, but not the health of children or adults. This generation has been marketed like no other to eat nutrient deficient – highly refined pseudo-foods. I may have made that word up (pseudo-food), but I think it tells the story well. Much of the food we eat is very tasty, full of calories and deficient in nutrients. Every metabolic process that takes place in the body is nutrient dependent.

We need to create healthy environments and healthy eating in out our homes, communities and schools. Children and adults that are unhealthy cannot keep up with the demands placed on them in this ever increasing world of competiveness. Mark Hyman, MD said recently in one of his articles that 75% of military recruits are not fit enough to serve. He also stated a child would have to run four miles per day for one week to burn off the amount of junk food being consumed in one meal.

Right now, in the adult population, one in three Medicare dollars is spent treating type 2 diabetes. It is estimated that the US will spend $3.4 trillion over the next ten years to treat pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes.

Blood sugar dysregulation also causes elevated blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, heart stress, poor wound healing etc. Remember bad nutrition causes bad fats or fat inside your belly “VAT” (visceral adipose tissue). Bad fats create more bad fats. Also remember toxins like to accumulate in fat tissue. Surgeons report they find large amounts of fat accumulated around the organs, such as the colon, liver and kidneys. This is caused by our altered and artificial diet full of high fructose corn syrup, added sugars, trans-fats, flour and processed foods.

Here is some interesting data: “The average American eats 29 pounds of French fries, 23 pounds of pizza, 24 pounds of ice cream and consumes 53 gallons of soda, 24 pounds of artificial sweeteners, 2.736 pounds of salt and 90,700 mg of caffeine per year.” I promise you I had near ZERO in each of these categories. So someone else is eating my share. I do use some mineral salt.

In practice, we use a lot of the XYMOGEN Functional Foods to help people change their diets. They are nutrient dense, quick and easy. My Personal favorite is OptiMetabolix. Take a look at these on line or call your rep and get the catalogues that are loaded with quick and easy information.

We use: MedCap IS, which has been formulated for Insulin Sensitivity. It is a synergistic blend of vitamins, herbs, trace minerals etc, and contains chromium and vanadium.

CinnDromeX, which is a blood sugar support synergistic blend.

ALAmax CR™ - Is a controlled-release Alpha-Lipoic Acid. It has shown to provide fat-soluble and water-soluble antioxidant activity. Research has shown it to be a coenzyme for whole-body glucose utilization. It supports healthy intracellular glutathione levels and supports regeneration of vitamins C and E. It also helps to maintain a balance between oxidized and reduced CoQ10.

We find it is important to do the Heavy Metal and Halogen Homeopathic protocols on our blood sugar patients as well.

We look forward to seeing you soon and always enjoy your correspondence.
